Graham was busy at work. He was typing away on his laptop occasionally flipping through books on law, human rights & the constitution. A coffee mug was the only thing on the table next to the laptop. Though law was not something he had formal education in, Graham's in-depth knowledge of it & his incisive logic were good to corner even the best lawyers. During his years being mercilessly targeted, he had to find a way to expose his enemies. Their illegal acts, their flaws which can be exposed legally, he had it all figured out. When he lost his friend Nathan, he realised that many crimes can be staged to look like accidents. Nathan drowned in the last year of Graham's PhD course. He knew there was something fishy about the accident which occurred on the day after his birthday. It then became obvious to him that Nathan was killed by one of his Professors who also worked abroad as a teacher.
Outside the wind was blowing mercilessly. Graham thought to himself-'Nature's agents do whatever they please, whenever they feel like it.'After chugging all the coffee down, he started typing away at the legal notes he had been preparing. There was someone at the door, he lazily got up & answered the doorbell. It was his old schoolmate, Dan. They hadn't met in over a decade. Graham was happy to see one of his closest friends in all his life. They sat down to talk.
Dan:"I'm so happy to see you, mate. You're all famous & influential these days..Jack of all trades, master of all of them..lol.."
Graham:"I've been blessed. And like all blessed souls, I have a lot to give back to society.."
D: "What are you working on?"
G:" A friend of mine was killed..At least 3 other people were involved in getting him drowned. I know them. I have to get them to where they belong. I owe it to Nathan & his family.."
D: "I'm sorry, I know how much you value friendship. Anything I can do to help?"
G: "Naah!! I've got this.."
D:" I heard about how you were gangstalked harassed & how the perpetrators are facing consequences big time!!"
G:"Well, time & truth was on my side.."
D:" Yes, all that & basic logic too!!"
G:" Absolutely..hmm.."
D:"What are you going to charge the guilty with?"
G:"Criminal conspiracy & murder.."
D:"All of this was planned in advance?"
G:"Yes, it was part of the organized harassment that I was put through..They wanted to hurt me by killing Nathan!!"
D:"Oh my God!! Go get 'em behind bars!"
G:"They have an inkling about what's coming their way..They can run but they can't hide!!"
D:" Graham, I've got Terminal Cancer & hardly 3 months to live!!"
A sudden hush descended on the room. The rustling leaves were the only sound for quite sometime. Graham hugged Dan & both of them sobbed.
G:"But you don't smoke or drink or do drugs. You never used to.."
D:"I still don't...My doctors say there's no known cure.."
G:"Can I suggest something?"
D:"That's what I came for..You give most well rounded suggestions to solve any problem.."
Months drifted on by. Graham was able to prove that his close friend was indeed murdered. Three of his batchmates were sentenced to life for Murder. The Professor committed suicide by hanging himself. As Graham was resting on his couch overwhelmed at what he had just accomplished, there was a knock on his door. It was Dan, looking peachy..
G:"You don't ring the bell anymore?"
D:"There are no bells in the Buddhist Monastery that I live in, the one you sent me to..Guess what?I'm cancer free!!"
The two friends went out to the playground where they used to play. They ate & cracked jokes like they used to in high school. Dan had battled Terminal cancer & Graham, he fought malice, envy & evil. Graham knows that with each ounce of truth that comes out, there's a ton waiting to be declared as the truth...
